Frequently asked questions
How many driving lessons will I need on average? 🚗
Every student is unique, so the time varies. While the DVSA suggests roughly 45 hours of expert tuition plus private practice, I personally guide you at your own pace. My goal is to ensure you feel calm and ready for the road under my supervision.
Where do we meet for my driving lessons? 📍
I aim to begin and end lessons at your house. Sometimes it is more cost-effective for you to meet me in the city. This is something we can discuss during the course of your lessons
Do I need to pass my theory test before starting? 📖
You do not need to pass it before we start. In my experience, I find that getting behind the wheel helps my students grasp those theory rules much faster. I am here to help you build that confidence as we go along.
What car will I be learning in? 🚘
I will teach you in my new EV fitted with dual controls for your safety as well as all the latest driver aids. Be aware that these are an addition to learning to drive safely and it's important that you learn to drive safely without them. For example, when parking, I will teach you to park safely and accurately without the use of cameras to ensure you are not reliant on them. Once we have done this, you are able to use them to support you as an added safety feature.
What should I bring to my first lesson? 📋
Please bring your provisional license when I meet you.
You will also need footwear suitable for driving in. Shoes with thin, flat soles that will not slip off your feet work best.
If you need glasses or contacts, bring those too, as I will need to perform a quick eyesight check before I let you take over the controls.
Bring a drinks bottle, sweets if you want. It's good to have a quick break sometimes and they can help you to stay focused for the next part of the lesson.
